Why right now is a good time to sell

Why right now is a good time to sell

We know we live in a fantastic area; indeed just a couple of years ago, Lake Macquarie was named as one of the most ‘desirable’ location for people moving out of Sydney according to a report by Regional Australia Institute (RAI).

Fast forward two years, and now KPMG analysis of the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data has found our region is still one of the net internal migration hot spots in Australia for the 12 months to March 2025:

  • Newcastle and Lake Macquarie recorded a 20 per cent jump, or more than 3400 new residents.
  • The Hunter Valley, excluding Newcastle, attracted 2707 new residents, up 14.1 per cent.

Hardly surprising when you think of what our region has to offer in terms of, work, lifestyle and property affordability.

What does this mean for sellers?

With Newcastle and the surrounds rapidly becoming the region of choice, and more people actively relocating to Newcastle and surrounds, the demand for quality homes is on the rise.

If you are thinking of putting your house on the market in the next few months, now might just be the time to spruce it up, and get it listed in time for spring, traditionally one of the best times to sell.

Considerations for selling

If you want to take advantage of the current market conditions, here are some considerations and steps you will need to take:

  • Find out what your property is worth

Do some research to find out what similar properties in your area are on the market for; but remember, the listing price doesn’t necessarily translate to the final price.
